SU Ballet Society - President

August 2021 - Present

During my final year of university, I became President of the Ballet Society. As President of the Ballet Society, it is my job to lead the committee and oversee the running of the society, by doing this I have demonstrated the ability to be a leader and have truly developed my Leadership Skill. During my presidency I have had to take responsibility of tasks and demonstrate initiative to complete them and in turn motivate my committee to do the same. I have had to think strategically to make sure we release information to our members in a timely and precise manner.  I am also very excited as I get to organise the annual showcase for multiple dance and performance societies in March.

Fusion Cheerleading - Treasurer

August 2020 - Present

I have been the Treasurer for Fusion Cheerleading Society for two years now and at the beginning of each year I must prepare an annual budget. I do this by estimating the number of members based on previous year’s figures, which gives an idea of the amount of income we can expect. I then deduct the usual expenses such as hall hire, training, and insurance in order to derive the amount of excess funds. I keep the committee informed of our budget constraints throughout the year to make sure we stay afloat.

During this year I have had to research and create a budget for our competition season, I had allocated an amount for this in the annual budget, but I needed to complete a more up to date and in-depth cost breakdown of this to ensure we had enough funds to subsidise transport and uniforms in order to make it affordable for our members. While being treasurer for Fusion I have managed to keep the society out of debt by organising fundraisers and being strict over purchases, this has allowed me to develop and grow confidence in my Budgeting Skills.

BUCS Surf Championship

1 Weekend - October 2019

BUCS Surf Championship was the first event where I began to understand the role of the event manager, as well as all the problems that may arise during an event. At the event I developed my Scheduling Skills by working in the registration tent, where alongside the event team I helped to work out any scheduling conflicts and make sure that the event ran smoothly. I also had to work on my Communication Skills to allow me to communicate effectively with the event manager, judges, and commentator in order to do my job to the best of my ability.

20Ten Creative

1 Week - August 2018

At 20Ten Creative I completed a week’s work experience, which opened my eyes to the world of the marketing. During my week I visited product photo shoots, sat in on design meetings as well as, prepping for meetings. Throughout my time I truly developed my Secondary Research Skills as I researched and prepared presentations for the marketing team. My research ranged from brand competitors to how to create an effective menu, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at 20Ten Creative.
